Core Functionalities
Blocks Infected Messages
Filters and blocks messages if the attachment or message body includes a virus, Trojan, backdoor or other potentially dangerous active codes. It blocks infected files regardless of the archive or compression type.
Scanning at Transport Level**
VSAPI-based scanning at transport level prevents infected messages from entering the Exchange organization. Messages that pass through a gateway Exchange 2003 server and which would not normally enter the Exchange store are scanned in this way.
Outbound Scanning*
This type of scanning is performed on all outbound messages, before they are sent.
Optimized Scanning
The scanning of multiple recipient e-mails is done only once, before delivery, instead of being repeated for each separate recipient.
Protection for New Mailboxes
Real-time antivirus protection is provided for newly created mail boxes.
Self-adjusting Antivirus Activity
Prevents e-mail server overload or speed loss in data transmission as the antivirus activity self-adjusts according to the system processes of the e-mail server.
Proactive Scanning
New e-mail messages are scanned upon being submitted to the Exchange server, even before they are actually accessed, unless higher priority e-mail messages are being scanned at the time.
Secures Infected or Suspected Files
Infected or suspected files are isolated in quarantine zones, the content of which can be analyzed at any time by the IT manager or can be sent for analysis to the BitDefender Antivirus Lab.
Antispam Heuristic Analysis Technology*
The heuristic filter performs a set of tests on all message components, (i.e. not only the header, but also the message body in either HTML or text format), looking for words, phrases or links which are common to spam.
WBL (White List/ Blacklist) support*
The administrator can set a list of trusted and untrusted addresses based on which to respectively "always accept" or "always reject" mail.
