BS7799 is the British Standard for Information Security Management. It consists of two parts:
Part One is the Code of Practice for Information Security Management. This has now been ratified as BS ISO/IEC 17799:2000. It gives guidance on the interpretation of Part Two and offers detailed guidelines on information security best practice.
Part Two is the Specification for Information Security Management Systems. Organisations seeking accreditation to BS7799 are audited against Part Two.
